Saxony is considered a safe federal state with a comparatively low crime rate. The police in Saxony are well trained and ensure a high level of public safety through legal regulations. Nevertheless, there are also basic safety instructions in Saxony that you should observe.

Important tips for your safety

Pickpockets can occasionally occur, especially in cities. Therefore, take good care of your valuables, especially in crowds and on public transport, and store them safely. At night or in less crowded areas, it is advisable to be alert and keep an eye on your surroundings.

  • Child protection and help with domestic violence
    If you are experiencing domestic violence or have questions about child protection, you can contact the domestic violence hotline on 08000 116 016 or the child protection hotline on 0800 111 0 111.
  • Psychosocial emergency help
    In exceptional emotional situations or after traumatic experiences, many hospitals in Saxony offer psychosocial emergency help.
