Most people are off work on public holidays in Saxony. Kindergartens, schools and supermarkets are also closed. Many families spend the days together or go on an excursion. Most public holidays have a religious background.
Important: Most stores in Saxony are also generally closed on Sundays. Only restaurants, cafés, petrol stations and bakeries may be open. A few times a year there are Sundays open for business.
