Formats for recruiting international specialists

Updated:

In order to target qualified international specialists, it pays to have an active presence on site and in digital formats. Direct encounters create trust and enable the establishment of long-term contacts.

Delegation trips and trade fairs

Participating in international delegation trips and trade fairs gives you the opportunity to make direct contact with potential candidates. In particular, visits to universities, vocational schools or vocational training centers in the target country allow you to hold personal discussions and present your company as an attractive employer.

You will receive support from institutions such as the Saxony Economic Development Corporation, the Federal Employment Agency or, as part of cooperation projects, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which organizes targeted business trips to target countries.

Speed dating and digital recruiting formats

Use modern formats such as international specialist speed dating - both on-site in the target country and digitally. This will get you in touch with many applicants quickly. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), for example, enables companies to participate in virtual recruiting days as part of the "Hand in Hand for International Talents" project - including speed dating with access to the IHK's own talent pool. Saxon universities also regularly offer formats for networking international students and graduates with regional companies.

Trade fairs: Strengthening visibility and networking

International trade fairs are not only a platform for direct recruitment, but also strengthen your employer branding. With offers such as internships, apprenticeships or dual study programs, you can arouse the interest of junior staff at an early stage.

You also have the opportunity to establish valuable contacts with local institutions, educational establishments or relocation service providers who can support you in the long-term development of international recruitment structures. You can find suitable trade fairs for you, for example, in the AUMA trade fair database.

Note: The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Home Affairs (BMEL) jointly promote the participation of German companies at trade fairs abroad, including through a joint appearance as a German Pavilion. Saxony also offers one-off trade fair participation funding as part of the 2021 to 2027 ERDF market launch grant funding guideline.
