Sharing offers - rent a vehicle

In many cities in Saxony, cars, bicycles, e-bikes, cargo bikes, and e-scooters are available for shared use. The vehicles are located at fixed stations or parked freely throughout the city and are usually reserved via an app. You can find information about these services from city and municipal authorities or public transportation agencies.

Car Sharing

In Saxony, carsharing is available at fixed stations or as flexible services (free-floating carsharing), where cars are parked freely throughout the city. Costs depend on travel time, distance, vehicle type, and rate plan. Many providers charge a monthly base fee. Fuel is usually included in the price. A fuel card is provided for refueling. To use the service, you must log in via the app. Be sure to review the terms and conditions carefully—especially the amount of the deductible in case of damage.

E-scooters

E-scooters are a good alternative for short distances. You can use an app to find the nearest scooter and park it again at your destination. You’ll need a supported payment method. There is a rental fee and a per-minute usage charge. A driver’s license is not required. Only one person is allowed to ride per scooter. You must ride on bike paths or the street and follow the traffic rules according to the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). 

Bicycles, E-Bikes, Cargo Bikes

Bicycles, e-bikes, and cargo bikes are also available for rent. You can find information from city and town offices or public transportation agencies. In Freiberg, there’s the SteigtUM project. Here, you can rent electric cargo bikes and test the system at the same time.
