Your checklist for entry

To ensure that your entry to Saxony runs smoothly, you will need the following documents and items - also for your family if they are traveling with you.

Travel documents

  • Valid passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Visa for entry (if required)

Important contracts and proof

  • Employment contract or training contract
  • School and training certificates with translations and certifications (if required)
  • Recognition certificate or professional license for professional qualifications (if required)
  • Tenancy agreement for the apartment or proof of accommodation (if already available)
  • Birth certificate and marriage certificate (if available)
  • Driver's license

Health insurance

  • Proof of temporary health insurance that is also valid in Germany
  • Vaccination certificate
  • There is currently no general vaccination requirement for entry into Germany. Information on recommended vaccinations can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Health.
  • Medical prescription for important medication (in English or German)

Other items

  • Bank cards and cash for the first few days
  • Adapter for European sockets (type C or F)
