More and more people are using bicycles and giving up their cars. Cycling is good for the environment and for your health. The Free State of Saxony therefore actively promotes cycling.

Cycling is a good option for shorter distances. You are independent of buses and trains. And you don't have to look for a parking space or pay for one.
However, your bike must be roadworthy to ride on the road. This means, among other things, that it needs functioning brakes, a bell and sufficient lighting and reflectors. Only one person may ride a bicycle. If you are taking a small child with you, you will need a special child seat or a trailer. Alternatively, there are special cargo bikes.
E-bikes with a motor power of up to 25 km/h and without pedal assistance (pedelecs) are considered bicycles in Germany and do not require insurance or a driver's license.
You must also know and comply with the rules of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) when riding a bicycle. If you disregard the rules on a bicycle, this can also have consequences for your car driving license. So always pay attention and remember that drivers can easily overlook you on a bicycle.
In many cities, parking boxes or bicycle garages have been set up at central points so that bicycles can be parked safely and protected from the wind and weather.
If you do not have your own bike, there are various options for renting bicycles use.
Cycling to work
Some employers help employees to finance a bicycle for their commute to work (job bike).
