Bringing the family to Saxony

You have the option of bringing close family members to Germany - for example your spouse or partner, children under the age of 18 and, in certain cases, parents or other close relatives. You can find out what is important here on our page on family reunification for skilled workers.

1. Register your relatives at the registration officewithin 14 days and obtain a registration certificate.
2. Make an appointment at the immigration office in good time so that the residence permit is issued in good time before the visa expires.
3. Clarifyhealth insurance - family insurance is often possible.
4. Enrol children in daycare or school, depending on their age (compulsory schooling from the age of 6).
5. Learn German and find a language course so that you can quickly find your feet in everyday life in Saxony.
6. To help your family members settle in quickly in Saxony, they can volunteer in associations or join local networks and communities in Saxony.
