Saxony has a diverse higher education and research landscape. There are four universities, five art colleges and six universities of applied sciences. A special feature is the dual study program, which combines university studies with practical training in a company.

Important information for your studies in Saxony
Different rules apply for admission depending on the university and subject. You should therefore always check with the university of your choice.
You can use the DAAD admissions database to check whether you meet the requirements for your degree course.
On the Anabin portal, you can check whether your school or university degree is recognized in Germany.
Important: For degree programs in German, you generally need German language skills atB2 level (CEFR) and a certificate or language test. Some Master's programs are also offered in English. However, knowledge of German is essential for working and living in Saxony. Use the language courses at your university to improve your German.

Please also contact the student services at your university and the International Office at your university for more information. Many Saxon universities have advice centers that can help you find suitable funding programs.
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The DAAD promotes international exchange and offers scholarships aimed primarily at graduates, doctoral students, postdocs and researchers. Scholarships for a complete course of study or a doctorate in Germany are available especially for those from developing and emerging countries. Erasmus+
The EU Erasmus+ program enables study and internship stays in Germany. You can study in Germany for one or two semesters, complete an internship or take part in projects with European partner universities. You can find more information about the Erasmus program here.
Dropping out of university is not a failure, but often a step towards personal strength and professional reorientation. Although pressure, financial burdens or a lack of prospects can make the decision more difficult, there are many alternative career paths in Saxony, such as vocational training.

Universities offer numerous advice centers, such as Career Services, Student Services, International Offices, the Central Student Advisory Service or the Quickstart Network Saxony.
Job alternatives
Job vacancies can be found on regional job portals as well as at the Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Chambers of Crafts.
If you have a visa or residence permit for your studies and are de-registered, you must act quickly. Even if other conditions affecting your stay change, inform the Foreigners' Registration Office immediately to clarify what needs to be done.
